Purging data
If you are running Distribution SX.e on-premises, we recommend that you implement a routine to regularly purge extraneous data files from your databases. Data purging extends the life of your current database configurations by forcing the database to adapt to the system’s existing environment.
For example, by purging regular data along with a database dump and load, you eliminate the requirement for purchasing additional disk drives, increasing existing file systems, creating additional file systems, moving or copying databases from one location to another, or creating additional database extents.
If your company keeps more than five years of data online, then data purging once a year would probably not be applicable to you. In this case, the system’s environment must adapt to database growth. Increased system administration, maintenance, and monitoring are absolutely critical and must be performed on a regular basis to maintain the same level of quality in database performance.
