Authorization Required overview

When an operator encounters an authorization point, the user’s level of authorization is checked to verify that the operator is authorized to continue. If the operator is not authorized to perform the task, the operator is shown the Authorization Required window and must cancel out of the task or contact a supervisor to request granting of authority to proceed.

The Authorization Required window displays the function, description, attempted date and time, screen, field, mode, and transaction type. If the operator clicks OK before to authority being granted, another message notifies the operator that the authorization has not been performed.

The supervisor, or other system-level operator, must have level 3 authority for that particular functionality. The system-level operator always has level 3 authority for all operators, even if the system-level operator’s own security level is set to level 1 or 2 for some of the authorization points. If the system-level operator encounters an authorization point for which their security level is set to 1, they also must request granting of authority from their supervisor.
