Creating a product pricing set using a template

Use these instructions to create a template and then create product pricing sets from the resulting pricing spreadsheet.

You can export a single pricing record from PD Mass Maintenance Entry to Microsoft Excel to create a spreadsheet template. Use the row of sample data to enter data in the correct format and structure, and then import the spreadsheet to PD Mass Maintenance Entry.

Use these instructions to create a template and then create product pricing sets from the resulting pricing spreadsheet.

  1. Access Pricing and Discounting > Entry > Mass Maintenance.
  2. Specify the set name from which you want to create the template and click Continue. The set name must be for the same type of record you want to create. For example, if you want to create Customer/Product pricing records, you must specify a set that contains Customer/Product pricing records.
  3. Select a sample row that you will use to identify the formatting (columns required) for the template.
  4. Select Column Actions > Export to Excel.
  5. Specify a file name.
  6. Click a field in the Possible Fields list, and then click the arrow to move it to the Chosen Fields list. You can press CTRL+A to select all of the fields. Move each field except for Update and Error to the Chosen Fields list.
  7. After you have moved fields to the Chosen Fields list, click Export to Excel and save the file.
  8. Open the spreadsheet. When you export to Excel, each cell in the spreadsheet is in the General format, which does not contain a specific number format. The cells in the spreadsheet must be formatted in the General or Text number format. The Text format displays the cell value exactly as it is entered. For example, if you enter 0123 in a cell with the General format, only 123 is displayed. If you enter 0123 in a cell with the Text format, 0123 is displayed. Depending on your data, you might be required to change the cell format to Text, otherwise, errors occur when the spreadsheet is imported into PD Mass Maintenance Entry. To change the cell format, in Excel right-click on a column or cell. Select Format Cells and then select the format on the Numbers tab. You can also change the number format on the Home tab.
  9. Based on the sample row, add information for each record you want to import into PD Mass Maintenance Entry. You can delete the sample row if you do not want to include it in the product pricing set.
  10. Save the file when you are done adding records.
