Pricing by business entity
You can restrict the use of product pricing records to specific warehouses, division groups, or regions. This is useful if you have warehouse locations that sell a product for a price only to customers served by that warehouse. The same restriction can be applied to multiple warehouses in a division group, or warehouses within an entire region.
Controlling pricing by business entity is configured in SA Administrator Options-Products-Pricing. Set the appropriate options based on your company’s pricing structure:
- Pricing by Warehouse: Select this option to create PD Pricing Setup, PD Special Price Type Discount Setup, and PD Whole Order Discount Setup records for warehouses that require a unique pricing structure to be competitive. You can set up pricing records for warehouses with a similar pricing structure with a blank warehouse to control the pricing for all such warehouses. Alternatively, you can set the base prices, price types, list prices, and costs for each individual warehouse.
- Pricing by Division Group: Select this option to create PD Pricing Setup and PD Pricing Sheet Setup records for division groups that require their own pricing structure. Division groups are defined in SA Table Code Value Setup-Division Group. Divisions can be assigned to a division group in SA Table Code Value Setup-Divisions. You can assign a warehouse to a division in Product Warehouse Description Setup-General.
- Pricing by Region: Select this option to create pricing records for regions in PD Pricing Setup and PD Pricing Sheet Setup. Regions are defined in SA Table Code Value Setup-Region. Optionally, you can specify the region in which a warehouse is located in Product Warehouse Description Setup-General.
When a product is selected in Sales Order Entry, the pricing hierarchy is used to determine the price. First, pricing records are searched to find records set up for the warehouse if the Pricing by Warehouse option is selected. If none are found that qualify, and the Pricing by Division option is selected, pricing records set up for the division group are searched. If none are found, and the Pricing by Region option is selected, pricing records set up for the region are searched. If none of the options are selected, or no records are found, pricing records set up for use across the company are searched.
For example, an order created for a product in the 'COS' warehouse will use pricing records set up for the 'COS' warehouse. If there are no records, pricing records for the 'Alpha' division group are used, followed by records set up for the 'SColo' region.
