Creating a sales order for a reserved product

Use these instructions to create a sales order for a customer for a product that is either reserved for the ordering customer or another customer.

See Reserved products for prerequisites.

  1. Select Sales > Entry > Order.
  2. Specify Stock Order, Blanket Order, or Counter Sale as the Order Type.
  3. Specify the warehouse.
  4. Specify the customer or ship to number.
  5. Complete the remaining fields in the section and click Next.
  6. Specify the product.
  7. If the customer has an active reservation on this product, ‘CR’ is displayed next to the Net Available on the line or on the Extended view. Click Add.
Note: If there is an active reservation record, but you do not see the ‘CR’ notification, re-add the Net Available field using the Personalization feature.
  8. If the quantity shipped is less than the quantity ordered, the message “WARNING: Quantity Short on Line With An Active Customer Reservation” is displayed. To review other active customer reservations to borrow stock, click Customer Reservations.
Note: If the Customer Reservation button is not displayed, it can be due to multiple reasons: there are no active reservations that permit you to pull inventory; no active reservations within the date range that have enough reserved stock to fill the line's quantity; the current line has enough stock to fill the line (not short). You must adjust the quantity ordered, or allow a backorder to be created. Finish the order.
  9. If you selected Customer Reservation, all active reservations for the selected product with a reserved quantity that can cover the quantity ordered amount on the line are listed. Select a reservation record where the Pull Quantity is Yes. Click OK.
Note: You cannot split amounts to cover the quantity on the line and pull from both the current customer’s product reservation and other customer product reservation records.
  10. If you are not authorized to override a customer product reservation, the Authorization Required window is displayed. Contact a manager who can grant authorization before proceeding.
  11. Click Add.
  12. Finish the order.
