Selling a substitute kit component

In Sales Order Entry, you can select a substitute component when there is insufficient inventory for a build-on-demand (BOD) kit component. Substitute cross-reference products must be defined for the component in KP Substitute Component Setup.

When you use a substitute component, usage is updated for the original component. Usage is not recorded for substitute products because substitute products are considered temporary.

When a product is selected to replace the current component product, all of the component information is updated and the kit is re-totaled.

  1. Select Sales > Entry > Order.
  2. Add or maintain an order.
  3. In Advanced Line Entry, specify the BOD kit in the Product field.
  4. Specify the quantity and unit, and then verify the price and discount.
  5. Click Kits.
  6. Confirm the available quantity of each component.

When the available quantity for a component is 0, you can select a substitute product to build the kit if the Subs column is selected.

    1. Drill down of the component.
    2. Click Subs.
    3. Select the substitute product, and then click Submit.
    4. Click Submit to return to the Kits.
    5. Click the back arrow to return to Advanced Line Entry.
  7. Click Add to add the line item to the order.
  8. Finish the order.
