Entering a sales order for a linear cut BOD kit product

Use these instructions to configure linear cut lengths as components for a build-on-demand (BOD) kit and allocate available lots to fulfill the specified cuts in Sales Order Entry. You can also specify linear cut lot products directly on the order line in Sales Order Entry.

See Entering a sales order for a linear cut lot product.

Note: Orders created by an external process cannot be maintained to add a linear cut lot product.
  1. Select Sales > Entry > Order.
  2. Create or maintain an order.
  3. In Advanced Line Entry, specify a linear cut build-on-demand kit product.
  4. Specify the number of kits in the Quantity field.
Note: You will specify the product length required by the customer as the quantity for each component in a later step.
  5. If the product is set up as a configurable build-on-demand kit, then use these steps to configure the kit components automatically using the integrated CPQ Enterprise Configurator:
    1. In CPQ Enterprise Configurator, complete the line.
    2. Click Finish.
    3. Close the Configuration Complete page to return to the current order in Sales Order Entry.
Note: If the product is set up as a build-on-demand kit, but you do not have an integration to the CPQ Enterprise Configurator, the kit components are populated based on the product’s record in KP Component Setup. Specify the required product length as the quantity for each component.
  6. Drill down into the kit's components.
  7. 7. Optionally, if you are allocating lots for the required cuts in Sales Order Entry, use these steps:
    1. Click Lots, and then specify the lot numbers and cuts that will be allocated to fill the order's components. Use one of these methods to select lot numbers:
      • Click Auto Assign, and then specify the Number of Pieces required and the Cut Length of product to be assigned.
      • Select the lot from the Lot Entry grid, and then specify the quantity. Optionally, select an existing cut piece from the Dimensional Cuts grid.
      • Click Oldest to assign the oldest lot number to the product. Split across lots? is displayed. If the quantity of kits on the sales order line is greater than one, you can click Yes and allocate from multiple lots, as long as each piece selected is long enough to fulfill the component's quantity needed. If the oldest lot does not contain enough product to cover the quantity needed, the next oldest lot that can cover the entire quantity needed is used. If the quantity of kits on the sales order line is one, you must allocate one piece that is long enough to fulfill the component's quantity needed. You cannot select two or more smaller pieces to add up to the length needed.
    2. Click Save when the Quantity to Allocate is 0.
Note: You can also assign lots and cuts to an order in Sales Linear Cut Maintenance Entry rather than Sales Order Entry to avoid reserving the entire lot quantity.
    3. Click Submit and repeat the lot allocation for any additional linear cut components.
  8. Click Add to add the line to the order.
  9. If cut containers are set up in Product Setup-Cut and Product Warehouse Product Setup and associated with the cut product in Product Extended Cut Container Setup, the suggested containers are displayed on the Cut Containers window. The suggested containers are those that can hold the capacity of the cut product based on the quantity ordered. The container with the best match based on order quantity and container capacity is noted with a green check mark. To view all containers associated with the cut product, regardless of the calculated capacity requirements, click Show All Containers Regardless of Capacity. Select the desired container and click Submit.
Note: Make note of the Net Available quantity before selecting the container. Click the hyperlink to view the container's current and future availability in Product Availability Inquiry.
  10. If you selected a container, two lines are added to the order. One for the cut product, and a second line for the container. Finish the order.
