Reauthorizing a credit card on authorization hold

You can reauthorize a credit card for an order if the order is put on authorization hold. You can manually process a specific hold using Sales Credit Release Inquiry. You can also reauthorize a credit card that did not process correctly or select and charge the order to a different credit card.

  1. Select Sales > Inquiry > Credit Release.
  2. In the Search function, specify the customer.
  3. Specify the hold code.

If you use legacy hold codes, then specify the value in the Approval field. Specify a to process an order on authorization hold. Specify f to reauthorize credit cards that failed to process correctly. The recommended values are a and f. The values you defined as the Credit Card Hold Code in SA Administrator Options may differ.

If you use operational hold codes, then select the value in the Operational Hold Code Approval field. Specify CC Authorization or CC Failure.

  4. Clear the Only Orders with a Shipped Qty option.
  5. Click Search.
  6. Select the order to reauthorize.
  7. Select More . . . > Credit Card History.
  8. Drill down on the credit card record.
  9. In the Authorize section, you can take these actions:
    • Complete an authorization or reauthorize the card.

Click Send Authorization Request. In Hold for Authorization?, click Yes to wait for authorization.

    • Charge the order to a different credit card.

Select a different card in the Credit Card # field, and then click Send Authorization Request. You can only select from a similar payment type and card type.

    • Click Add Card to Processor to add a credit card to your integrated credit card processor, such as CenPOS or Stripe.
  10. Complete all required fields similar to adding a new credit card during sales order entry. If the transaction is approved, then this message is displayed: Card Approved ************<last four digits>. If the card is denied, then contact the bank to determine why a credit card was denied.
