Warehouse selection for tied fulfillment orders
If these conditions are met, a Warehouse List is built for each line item on the fulfillment order:
- The Order Fulfillment feature is activated.
- The sales order is a fulfillment order.
- The customer or ship to can use order fulfillment.
- The user can create or maintain a fulfillment order.
- The user is not restricted to a home warehouse.
Warehouse List
These records are used to build the Warehouse List:
- Sales Order Fulfillment Setup
These records are optional:
- Fulfillment Rules: If the Group by Region rule is in the company-level hierarchy, warehouses that are in the same region as the banner warehouse are added to the list.
- Preferred Warehouse List: If these records exist, the warehouses from these lists are used. The hierarchy of lists is Sourcing Warehouse List, Region, and then Warehouse Group.
- Sales Order Entry: The banner warehouse for the order is added to the list.
- Product Warehouse Product Setup: If the Authorized Replenishment Path for the product is a warehouse, then the warehouse is added to the list.
- SA Operator Setup: If the user is restricted to a warehouse group, warehouses that are not in the warehouse group are removed from the Warehouse List.
Warehouse selection
After the Warehouse List is built, these Sales Order Fulfillment Setup records are used to select one or more warehouse to source each line item:
- Customer/Ship To List: If records exist for the customer or ship to on the order, the selected rules and hierarchy are used. If a record does not exist for the ship to, the selected rules and hierarchy for the customer are used if the customer record exists.
- Fulfillment Rules: If Customer/Ship To List records do not exist, the selected rules and hierarchy for this company-level record are used to determine which warehouses are selected.
If Sales Order Fulfillment Setup records are not set up, the warehouse with the most available inventory is selected.
The selected warehouses, and all warehouses that were considered, are displayed in the Warehouse List on the Sales Order Fulfillment window in Sales Order Entry and Sales Order Fulfillment Inquiry. Duplicate warehouses are not displayed.
Line Items automatically sourced from the ordering warehouse
A Warehouse List is not built for each item on a fulfillment order. A tied fulfillment order for the warehouse on the original fulfillment order is automatically created for these types of line items:
- Fabricated products, such as Value Add or Kit Production processing
- Implied core products
- Tally kit products
- Transferable build-on-demand (BOD) kits
- BOD Kits with components that are sourced
- Product with Labor or Superseded status
