Selling a fabricated kit

Fabricated kits are a hybrid of a prebuilt and build-on-demand kit that can be transferred between warehouses or drop-shipped directly to the customer. Fabricated kits are set up in Product Warehouse Product Setup for the fabricating warehouse and the sales order warehouse.

Use these instructions to enter a fabricated kit on a sales order.

  1. Select Sales > Entry > Order.
  2. Add or maintain an order and click Next.
  3. In Advance Line Entry, specify the fabricated kit in the Product field.
  4. In the Fabricated Kit Information window, specify these values and then click Submit:
    Warehouse
    Specify the warehouse in which the kit is to be fabricated.
    Ship Via
    Specify the shipping method.
    Direct Order
    Select this option if you want the kit direct-shipped after it is fabricated.
  5. Click Kits to add, modify, and delete kit components.
    • To modify components, expand the product line.
    • To add a group or component, click Add Group or Add Component.
    • To add a nonstock product, see Entering a nonstock product for instructions.
    • To delete lines, click Delete Lines. You can delete a line or, if you specified a kit as a component, you can delete a component from the kit. Required components cannot be deleted.
  6. In Advance Line Entry, specify the quantity, and verify the unit and price.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Complete the order.

    Make note of the work order number and, if applicable, warehouse transfer number that is displayed.
