Setting up environmental handling fee exemptions

Use Product Environmental Handling Fees Exemptions Setup to create and maintain a customer-level environmental handling fee (EHF) exemptions. You must create one record for each customer and ship to that has an exemption from all fees, or from a particular province or state, addon, or product.

For example, a low-level producer might be exempt from the EHF. Additionally, customer who has an approved collection procedure to recycle the product might be exempt. The type of exemption determines which fields are specified during setup. For example, if the exemption is based only on a product, the geographical location is not necessary. If the exemption is based on a product sold in a specific geographical location, both fields must be specified.

  1. Select Product > Setup > Environmental Handling Fees Exemptions.
  2. Click Create.
  3. In Customer, specify a valid customer number. The customer must already be set up in Customer Setup.
  4. Optionally, in Ship To, specify a valid ship to number. The ship to must already be set up in Customer Ship To Setup.
  5. Optionally, in Province/State, specify the geographical location the EHF originates from. The location must already be set up in SA Sales Use Taxes Setup or SA Goods and Services Taxes Setup .
  6. Optionally, in Addon #, specify the addon number that is assigned to this product in SA Order Entry Addons Setup with a valid geographical location value.
  7. Optionally, in Product, specify a product. The product must already be set up in Product Setup or Product Catalog Setup.
  8. In Start Date, specify the date that the exemption is effective.
  9. Optionally, in End Date, specify the date that the exemption expires. The value must be blank or greater than/equal to the Start Date.
  10. Optionally, in Certificate #, specify the certificate number. Use this field if the governmental entity who administrates the EHF issues exemption certificates.
  11. Optionally, set up User Fields. These user-defined fields are not processed or updated by Distribution SX.e. You can set up EHF-related user-defined fields in SA Administrator Options-System-User Fields.
  12. Click Save.
  13. Repeat steps as needed to set up more environmental handling fee exemptions.
