Setting up special handling codes

Product shipping restriction records prevent products from being shipped with invalid shipment settings and enable your company to comply with the product shipping restrictions mandated by government entities and product specifications. To use the special handling product shipping restriction functionality, you must enable the special handling product restriction and create special handling codes to validate shipping selections on sales orders and warehouse transfers.

Enable this enhancement in SA Administrator Options-Products-Product Restrictions.

The special handling codes are created and maintained in SA Table Code Value Setup. These codes are specified with the Special Handling tab in Product Setup. On a sales order or warehouse transfer order, CloudSuite Distribution uses the special handling code from the product record to search for any special handling instructions that apply.

  1. Select System Administrator > Administration > Administrator Options > Products > Product Restrictions.
  2. In the Enable Product Shipping Restrictions section, select Special Handling.
  3. Specify a value in the Hold Code field to be applied to the sales order when active shipping restrictions or special handling codes are found.
    If active product shipping restrictions or special handling codes are found during Sales Order Entry, and if overrides are allowed for the record, the operator may override the restriction or special handling code in Advanced Line Entry to avoid the hold. Warehouse transfers are not placed on hold when an active shipping restriction is found.
    Note: If you are using Operational Hold Codes, you must first create a new hold code for shipping restrictions in SA Table Code Value Setup-Operational Hold Code and specify that code in this field. Additionally, for an operator to release an order on shipping restriction hold, the operator must have security access to the Operational Hold Code enabled in SA Operator Setup-Other Options.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Select System Administrator > Setup > Table Code Value.
  6. Select Special Handling from the Table List field.
  7. Click New.
  8. Specify a code and description for the special handling restriction.
  9. Optionally, in the Extended section, specify a Shipment Type and enable the Allow Override option to allow operators to override special handling restrictions during document entry.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Select Products > Setup > Product.
  12. Select the Special Handling tab.
  13. Select special handling codes from the grid.
  14. Click Save.
