Recording serial numbers

A serial product is a stock item that has a unique identification number that is used to track it from manufacturing to final sale to the customer.

  1. Select Product > Setup > Extended Serial#.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify the product number for which you are creating a serial number.
  4. Specify the warehouse where the product is located.
  5. Specify the serial number.
  6. Click Create & Continue.
  7. If appropriate, specify a stage.
  8. Specify the bin location for this product. Specify a number in each field position. The sections represent Building/Section/Row/Shelf.
  9. Optionally, specify a comment if you have additional information applicable to this serial number product.
  10. Click Save. The remaining fields are updated automatically when the product is received, transferred, or sold.
