Reserving stock for customers

Use these instructions to create a customer product reservation record in Product Customer Reservation/Forecast Setup.

Note:  You can attach notes to the main Product Customer Reservation Setup record and the Customer Reservation Detail record. From the main grid, select a product detail record and open and expand the Notes context application. Select Customer Reservation to attach the note to the main reservation record. If you drill down on a reservation record and select a product on the Detail view, you can also select Customer Reservation Detail to attach the note to the selected detail record. See the Infor Distribution SX.e User Guide for instructions on using notes.
  1. Select Product > Setup > Customer Reservation/Forecast.
  2. Click New.
  3. Specify the Customer #, Warehouse, Start Date, and Expire Date. Specify the ShipTo if applicable. You can leave the other fields blank.
  4. On the General view, specify these values:
    Active
Select Active to activate the record. If you are not ready to reserve this product and quantity for the customer, select Inactive. You can maintain the record to select Active when you are ready. Even if you select Active, the reservation record is not considered active in the system if the current date is before the contract start date or after the expire date, but it does reserve stock from Product Warehouse Product Setup immediately.
    Contract
Specify a user-defined value representing the contract name or number.
    Reference
    Specify a reference, if applicable.
    Fill Priority
Specify the priority in which this product reservation should be filled when Sales Entry Processing Backorder Fill Report is run to replenish products, if this product reservation is set to replenish (Replenish Stock option is selected). You can set this to a value from 1, the highest fill priority, to 99, the lowest fill priority. The default setting is 1. Customer product reservations are filled during Backorder Fill after specials and nonstocks, Direct Orders (DO) and tied lines, but before backorders and open orders.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Select the reservation you created and access the Detail view.
  7. Click New.
  8. Specify these values on the Product Detail window:
    Product
Specify the product you are creating this reservation for.
    Required Quantity
Specify the contractual quantity that must be available to the customer.
    Total Expected Quantity
Specify the quantity the customer has committed to or is expected to purchase over the contract period.
    Allowed Pull Quantity
Select this option to allow other customer/shiptos reservations to pull from the Reserved Quantity of this reservation; in other words, to borrow from this reservation.
    Replenish Stock

Select this option if the Required Quantity always needs to be available to the customer. If selected, this product is included when your buyer reviews RRARs in Purchase Demand Center Entry or WT Demand Center Entry. If this option is not selected, the product is not considered for replenishment when available quantities drop below the Reserved Quantity.

    Reserved Quantity
Leave this field blank. The system updates this field when you create the record as an active reservation. The SA Operator Setup-Controls option, Allow User to Change Master Balances, determines whether you can manually update this field.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Repeat steps 6-9 to add another product, if necessary, or close the function.
