Tracking sales volume or line hits

Line hits are accumulated for each product each time it occurs on a sales order, warehouse transfer, or lost business line item. Track line hits to measure the demand of a product and rank it in comparison to other products. After a product is ranked, you can assign specific parameters for measuring usage and setting safety allowance. Line hits can also be used to analyze slow moving or frozen products. Based on parameters set up in Product Replenishment Setup-Exceptions, you can identify products whose sales activity falls below a preset threshold. Additionally, you can track frozen products that experience a specified number of hits over a period of time.

  1. Set up ranking parameters in Product Replenishment Setup.
  2. To rank products that are based on your line hits history, run the Product Administration Inventory Classification and Rank Report. Otherwise, go to step 4.

Ensure that you specify these values:

    1. Select Yes to update rank by warehouse or company.
    2. Select Yes to print hit detail. This information is shown on the report:
      • Rank
      • Percent
      • Lowest number of hits for each rank
      • Percentage at the lowest hit level for each rank within each warehouse
  3. Run the Product Administration Month End Processing Report to update the line hits for the current month.
  4. To view a product’s line hits history, access one of these functions:
    • Product Inquiry-Replenishment-Usage
    • Product Warehouse Product Setup-Ordering-Frozen
    • Product Exception Processing Administration
