Managing products with exceptional usage

Products that experience exception usage, low usage, or are stocked out for more than 15 days can be set up so they are not frozen by the Product Administration Month End Processing Report, or can be frozen until a buyer reviews them and adjusts ordering controls. If products that experience exceptional usage are your lower-ranked products, ranked as C or lower, you can set up options in Product Replenishment Setup to adjust the usage and not freeze them. This frees up the buyers' time for reviewing the higher-ranked products.

  1. Select Product >  Setup > Replenishment.
  2. In the Usage view, update the appropriate fields in each of the usage control sections.
  3. If you specified parameters in the Low Usage Control section, click the Cost Matrix button.
  4. Set up the usage rates and cost levels. Click Save and then OK to close the window.
  5. At the end of the month, run the Product Administration Month End Processing Report, merging files, and updating ordering controls.
  6. Select Product > Administrator > Exception Center.
  7. Click Exception Selection.
  8. Select Exceptional Usage Corrected, Low Usage Corrected, or Fifteen Day Stock Out Corrected and click OK.
  9. Click Search. The products that experience any of the exceptions you selected are displayed.
  10. Select a record in the grid.
  11. On the Exceptions view, select an exception and click Show Detail. Review the explanation for the exception and any data that appears on the exception detail window. Click OK.
  12. To change ordering controls for the product, select the Ordering view. Any changes you make update the Product Warehouse Product Setup-Ordering record. Click Update to save your changes.
  13. To override usage, select the Usage History view. Expand the record for the month you want to override. Click Edit, specify an Override Usg amount, and click Save.
  14. Click Update to save your changes.
