Warehouse Manager Bin Allocation

The Warehouse Manager Bin Allocation function is displayed within other functions, such as WM Accept/Review Replenishment Entry, and where Warehouse Manager interfaces with other modules, such as Sales Order Entry. Warehouse Manager Bin Allocation is displayed only when you are working with Warehouse Manager-controlled products and at specific points in your workflow.

Warehouse Manager Bin Allocation is a control function that enables you to determine if a quantity is automatically allocated or if you are required to specify bin locations or allocate quantities when you are performing these functions. For example, if the allocation occurred automatically, the Quantity to Allocate is zero and you are only required to click Save Bins if you do not want to change the default location. If the product has not been assigned a bin location, you can click Auto Assign. This option recommends bin locations and quantities.

Warehouse Manager Bin Allocation creates WM transaction records to keep track of WM allocations against WM inventory. A WM transaction record can have three different stages. Stage 1 (Entered) occurs when the record is created. The record moves to Stage 4 (Finished) when quantities are moved from the received and committed fields, and are moved in or out of the on-hand balance in WM Bin Location and Product Setup. This stage can result from a number of different Distribution SX.e functions when a Warehouse Manager-controlled product is handled. Stage 9 (Cancelled) occurs when a WM transaction record is canceled.

To find a specific bin location for this product, click Select Bin Location. You can specify the bin location in this field. The bin location name should use the format: Bldg/Row/Section/Shelf (**/**/***/***). If you are not sure of the bin location, click the lookup icon. The Bin Location Lookup shows bin locations associated with the product you are currently handling and you can select one or perform a search to help you. For example, in Bin Location, you can specify a Bldg/Row to find all bin locations in this building and row. If you know this product quantity needs to move to a bin for unavailable products, select Unavailable from the Assignment list. You can also search by bin type, size type, status, or product. Use the product field to show bins that have the product assigned to the bin.

Typically, you use Warehouse Manager Bin Allocation to Buy (fill) or Sell (remove) from bin locations. In some interfaces, such as Product Unavailable Inventory Entry, you can perform both and the function is displayed twice. First to remove the product from the bin location, and then to add the product to the Unavailable bin location. For a warehouse transfer, you perform both. First to remove the product from one warehouse (Transfer Shipping Entry), and second to add the product to the new warehouse (Transfer Receipt of Inventory Entry).

The function is displayed as a view or tab, an expanding section, or a popup window, depending upon the existing layout of the module function you are in.
