Searching for an activity

When you click Reset, the default values for the Operator, Status, and Record Limit fields are restored. All other fields are cleared.

  1. In the Activities app, click the Expand button.
  2. Select a tab from which to conduct the search.

    Select All Subjects to search activity records that are not specific to a particular entity.

  3. Specify the information that is applicable to your search, and then click Search:
    Operator

    Your user name is the default value. You can clear the field, or select another operator if you are allowed access to other operator activities.

    Activity

    Select the task this is assigned to the activity.

    Date From and Date To

    Specify a date range.

    Result

    Select the result that was specified when the activity was closed.

    Status

    Select the status of the activity. The default value is Active, but you can select Inactive or Both.

    Record Limit

    Specify a record limit to restrict the number of results that are displayed. By default, a record limit is not enforced. When a large number of activities meet the search criteria, a time-out error can occur and the search can fail. When an error happens, specify additional search criteria and attempt the search again. Optionally, you can limit the number of results that are returned. We recommend that you specify 500.

    Document Type

    Use this field to search for a specific type of document. When the field is blank or when you select None, the search includes all document types. When you select Order Entry, Purchase Order, or Warehouse Transfer, a document number field becomes available. Use the Document Type field in conjunction with document number field to search for activities that are associated with a specific document number. You can also use the Document Type field independently of the document number field.

    The default value in the Document Type field depends on the function from which you access the Activities window. In functions that are related to customers or vendors, the Document Type field is blank. In functions that are related to transactions, default values are displayed for the document type and document number. The default values are based on the open transaction. To clear the default values, select None in the Document Type field, or click Reset.

  4. To search the records in the grid, click More ... > Show Filter Row, and then specify values that are based on column data.
  5. Click the drill down icon to open the activity record.
