KP Group Setup overview

Kit Production > Setup > Group

Function acronym: KPSG

Use this function to group products to create a single kit component or add or subtract a collection of components. You can manage bills of materials, make substitutions, and simulate a two-level bill of materials.

When you are establishing a kit, the group name you specify in KP Component Setup automatically includes the individual products that are defined as a group. For example, suppose a kit contains two groups of products. Group 1 varies with the seasons and Group 2 is standard. The Group 1 component can be replaced with the appropriate group component for the season. This eliminates dealing with three individual components in Group 1 each season.

The Product Setup records for kit components must be active and cannot be build-on-demand kits or core charge products.

Prebuilt kit components must have a valid Product Warehouse Product Setup record.

To add group records, you must have a Level 4 or higher operator security.

Kit Groups in Value Add

You can use KP Group Setup to create kit groups that are used in Value Add. Set up new groups for Value Add or review existing groups to ensure they are valid for Value Add. You can use a naming convention to distinguish between groups specific to Kit Production, Value Add, or both. These six options apply to Kit Production only. They are not valid for Value Add.
