Product Extended Product Cut Container Setup overview

Product > Setup > Extended Product Cut Container

Function acronym: ICSECC

Use this function to associate commonly used containers with the linear cut products they are sold in.

The containers that are associated with the cut product are available for selection when you sell the cut product in Sales Order Entry.

For example, you sell copper wire that is placed on a spool when it is sold to your customers. You can associate the container with the cut product that is suggested based on the size of the cut product. The containers you associate with a cut product are displayed in Sales Order Entry-Advanced Line Entry-Cut Containers when you add a linear cut product to an order. A single container is designated as the suggested container for the product based on the container's calculated capacity and the quantity entered on the order line. You can select the preferred container to add it to the order.

The container capacity value is used to determine how much of a linear cut product could go on or in the container, whether it is a spool or box. The container capacity is dependent upon the dimensions of the container and the Wire Diameter defined for a linear cut product in Product Setup-Cut.

If you are associating multiple containers with a single cut product, click Save & New after each container is added. You remain in Add mode to continue adding containers. Click Save when all containers are added. They are displayed in the grid in the order they were added. This is also the order in which they are presented to the customer service rep during Sales Order Entry. To reorder the sequence of containers in the grid, click Reassign Priority. Then select each container and click Top, Up, Down, or Bottom to place it in the desired priority position in the list.

These records must be set up in Product Setup-Cut before you can associate a cut product with a container:

  • Cut product

Set up in Product Setup-Cut with a Cut Type of OE Linear Cut

  • Container product

Set up in Product Setup-Cut with a Cut Type of No Cut and a Container Type of Spool or Box.

The capacity of the container is the Container Factor value divided by the square of the linear cut product's Wire Diameter value.

To copy a cut container to another cut product, select the container in the grid and select Copy. This can save time setting up cut product and container associations if many cut products use the same containers. On the Copy Container Products window you can select Clear And Replace All Products to copy the selected containers and replace any that exist for the cut product you are copying to.
