GL Entry Batch Update Report overview

Use this report to automatically open and close journals to update General Ledger.
If you specify a range of groups to be processed at one time, a journal is opened and closed for each group in the range. Transaction groups that you enter in GL Transaction Entry are updated in GL when GL Entry Batch Update Report is run.
If you do not update batch groups as you complete entry in GL Transaction Entry, you should perform GL Entry Batch Update Report daily. This ensures that General Ledger information is always current at the start of a new day. If you do not update the batches daily, update them on a regular basis.
To determine if a batch needs to be updated, look in GL Batch Setup. Check the Last Maintained and Last Posted columns in the grid. The Last Maintained field indicates when the batch was last changed. The Last Posted field indicates when the batch was last updated and the transactions that posted to General Ledger. If the date in the Last Maintained is more recent than the Last Posted, the batch has not been updated, and the General Ledger is not current.
