Event notification

When an event occurs, a notification is initiated by the system. Notifications include emails, activities, and internal processes.

You specify the recipients of the notification and the form of the notification when you activate an event in SA Event Manager Activate Entry. You can also specify that the notification take the form of the operator’s preference. Operator preferences specify the way an operator wants to receive notification that an event has occurred. The operator preference you set up in the system is used only when you specify an operator preference on the SA Event Manager Activate Entry-Action Details Maintenance window. When you select the Oper Preference option, the system uses the notification method specified in Preferences for this operator. This gives operators the added flexibility to change the notification method on demand. For example, you might want to receive your messages by email when you are in the office, but prefer to receive notification that an event occurred through an activity when you are out of the office.

You can specify that an individual or a group be notified. You can also specify notification by position title.

Group notification

When you define event actions, you can choose to notify groups of people. For example, you could set up a fiscal group in SA Event Manager Activate Entry and add the names of all the people you want to be members of this group. Then, when you set up an event that is triggered by an amount being posted to the suspense accounts, you can specify that the recipient of the notification is the fiscal group, which sends a notification to each person that is part of that group.
