Print queues

The print queue is a basic tool used by Report Scheduler to organize and manage the printing of stored reports. Queues are sequences of scheduled jobs or job groups. Each queue has a name, description, execution date and time, and execution priority number. When a queue reaches its scheduled date and time, the print jobs within the queue begin to run based on their position and priority assignments. Print jobs within a queue are not available for processing outside of the scheduled date and time.

If your company established a naming convention for print queues, ensure that you comply with the standard. If a naming convention has not been established, specify a unique name that reflects the queue’s purpose, or the types of print jobs contained in the queue.

For example, you could assign queue names based on departments, such as AR_Invoice_Statement or AR_Lockbox, for the Accounts Receivable department. Similarly, if a user is responsible for the reports contained in a queue, you could base the name of the queue on the user's sign in.
