Enabling report output to Dropbox

To complete this task, both the system administrator and user must perform steps.

  1. The system administrator performs these steps:
    1. Select System Administrator > Administration > Administrator Options > System > General.
    2. Select Interface to Dropbox.
    3. Click Save.
  2. The user performs these steps:
    1. Access http://www.dropbox.com.
    2. Sign up for an account, and then follow the instructions to install the application.
    3. Access http://www.dropbox.com/developers.
    4. Click App Console, and then click Create app.
    5. Select Scoped Access and Full Dropbox.
    6. Specify a unique name for your application.
    7. Agree to the terms and conditions, and click Create app.
    8. On the Permissions tab, select files.content.write. This enables the connection to write to files.
    9. Optionally, on the Settings tab you can create this configuration for multiple users by selecting Enable Additional Users and specifying the number of users up to 500.
    10. Next to the App Secret field, click Show and copy the App key and App secret value.
    11. Click Submit.
      The Submit button may be available on the Permissions tab.
    12. Provide the App key and the App secret to your system administrator.
  3. The system administrator performs these steps:
    1. Select System Administrator > Setup > Operator.
    2. On the user's record, click Controls.
    3. Click Generate Key.
    4. Specify the values provided by the user in the User Name (App Key) and Password (App Secret) fields.
    5. Provide the user with the URL.
  4. The user performs these steps:
    1. Access the URL provided by the system administrator and click Continue to permit your application to have access to your Dropbox files.
    2. Click Allow.
    3. Copy the Access code and provide this to your system administrator.
  5. The system administrator must perform these steps within one hour of receiving the Access code:
    1. Select System Administrator > Setup > Operator.
    2. On the user's record, select Controls.
    3. Specify the code provided by the user in the Temporary Authorization Key field, and then click Save.
      The final authorization key is displayed in the Dropbox Authorization field. A new Refresh Token is created for the user.
    4. Click Save.
  6. Optionally, the system administrator can click on the operator record to send a text file to Dropbox. The user can verify that the file was received in the Dropbox application and in the local directory.
