Authorize Transactions overview

Authorization points

You can use authorization points to limit the access that an operator has to specific modules, menu options, and procedures. This authority is over and above security set up in SA Operator Setup. Distribution SX.e contains a specific list of authorization points. They are hard-coded into the system to make them operational.

The current list of authorization points can be viewed in SA Authorization Point Setup. Review the authorization points and decide which ones to use, which operators will have the points applied to them, and who your supervisors or other system-level operators will be that will grant/deny authority to complete the tasks.

Authorizing transactions

When an operator encounters an authorization point, the system checks the user’s level of authorization to verify that the operator is authorized to continue. If the operator is not authorized to perform the task, the operator gets a Authorization Required window and must cancel out of the task or contact a supervisor to request granting of authority to proceed. The supervisor accesses the Authorize Transaction window and completes the steps to grant or deny authority.
