Implementing alternate product language descriptions

Use these instructions to implement the use of alternate product languages descriptions in Distribution SX.e.

  1. Set up each alternate language in SA Table Code Value Setup-Languages.
  2. Specify the local language for your company, even if it is English (EN), in SA Company Setup-Required.
  3. Set up alternate language product descriptions for each product in Product Setup.
    1. In Product Setup, select the product and click Edit.
    2. On the General tab, click Enter Description in Multiple Languages.
    3. Click New to create a new alternate language description.
    4. Specify these values:
      Language
Select the language from the drop-down.
      Description 1
Specify the first description in the selected language.
      Description 2
Optionally, specify the second description in the selected language.
      Extended Description
Optionally, specify the extended description in the selected language.
    5. Click OK to save.
    6. Repeat steps 3a-3d for each alternate language.
  4. Select the preferred language for each operator in SA Operator Setup-Static Information.
  5. To use the alternate product language description from Product Setup that matches the operator's language on pick tickets:
    1. Select System Administrator > Administration > Administrator Options > Documents > Sales Orders > Printing.
    2. In the Pick Tickets section, select Warehouse in the Language field.
We recommend that you leave the default selection of Order in the Language field if you send pick tickets to customers. When Order is selected, the alternate language product description printed on the pick ticket is the same language as selected for the sales order. By default, this is the language associated with the customer.
  6. To print the product descriptions in the language defined for your Company or the Warehouse on the Product Entry Physical Count Report and Product Entry Cycle Count Report, follow these steps:
    1. Specify the language in which you want to print the product descriptions in the Language field in Product Warehouse Description Setup-General.
    2. Select whether to print the product descriptions in the language defined for your company or the warehouse in the Physical Count Language and Cycle Count Language fields on the Count view.
Note: The product descriptions are printed in the warehouse language only when the language that you select in the Language field in Product Warehouse Description Setup-General has matching product descriptions available on the Multiple Language Setup window in Product Setup-General. Otherwise, the product descriptions set up in Product Setup are printed.
