Adding a pricing record with a quantity break

These instructions provide an example of how to enter a pricing record with a quantity break. If you add this record to your database, delete it after you review the record.

XYZ Plumbing Supply wants to give contractors these discounts on the base price of couplings through September 30:

  • 5% discount on the purchase of 10-24 couplings
  • 10% discount on the purchase of 25-49 couplings
  • 15% discount on the purchase of 50 or more couplings
  1. Select Pricing and Discounting > Setup > Pricing.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select Customer Type/Product in the Level field.
  4. Specify the product.   
  5. In the Customer Price Type field, specify the customer price type that is defined in SA Table Code Value Setup for contractors. The customer price type must also be specified in the Price Type field of Customer Setup-Ordering records.
  6. Specify today's date as the start date.  
  7. Click Save.
  8. Specify September 30 in the End Date field.
  9. Select % Current in the Price Type for a quantity break that is either a percentage of the current price or discount percentage.
  10. In the Based On field, select Base Price.
  11. In the Break On field, select Discount.
  12. On Level 1, specify 10 in the Price Break column.This discount level applies to ordered quantities that are less than 10.
  13. Leave 0.000 in the Discount column to indicate that a discount is not given.
  14. On Level 2, specify 25 in the Price Break column. This discount level applies to ordered quantities that equals the Level 1 quantity but is less than Level 2 quantity. In this example, the discount Level 2 is applied to ordered quantities between 10 and 24.
  15. Specify 5 in the Discount column to indicate a 5% discount.
  16. On Level 3, specify 50 in the Price Break column. This discount level applies to ordered quantities that equals the Level 2 quantity but is less than Level 3 quantity. In this example, the discount Level 3 is applied to ordered quantities between 25 and 49.
  17. Specify 10 in the Discount column to indicate a 10% discount.
  18. On Level 4, specify 9999999 in the Price Break column. This discount level applies to all ordered quantities that are equal to or greater than the Level 3 quantity. In this example, the discount level is applied to ordered quantities 50 and above.
  19. Specify 15 in the Discount column to indicate a 15% discount.
  20. When you are finished, click Save.
