Reserved products

You can create a sales order for a customer for a product that is either reserved for the ordering customer or another customer. Customer product reservations are set up in Product Customer Reservation Setup.

If an active reservation record is found for the customer/shipto/product, ‘CR’ is displayed next to the Net Available amount on the Sales Order Entry-Line or Extended view.

If a product does not have enough available stock--quantity shipped is less than the quantity ordered--the warning “Quantity Short on Line With An Active Customer Reservation” is displayed. When you click Customer Reservations, you can review the amounts for other customer/shipto reservation records and ‘pull’ stock from the reserved quantity of a single reservation record where the Pull Quantity field is Yes. You cannot split amounts between multiple reservation records. You must have security to pull stock from another product reservation record.

You can create a sales order for reserved stock using the single line item entry method only. If you use the multi-line entry method, you receive a warning only if there is insufficient stock to fill the line. You must use the single line entry method to access the Customer Reservations window and borrow stock from other reservations. If the line entered is short quantity and you want to see if there are other active reservations to pull stock from, delete the line from the Multiple Line section and enter it manually in the Single Line entry section.

This is also true if you are using the Shopping List to add lines to an order. An indicator is displayed on each line with an active reservation, but you cannot borrow stock from another reservation. You can access the Customer Reservations lookup from the Shopping List window.

Before creating a sales order for reserved product, add the Net Available field to the Sales Order Entry-Advanced Line Entry window using the Personalize feature.
