Just In Time disposition

If a customer wants to specify a delivery date for an order, or for line items on an order, you can assign a Just In Time (JIT) disposition to the order. This disposition is only available for Future Orders (FO), Stock Orders (SO), and Quote (QU) orders. For any other order type, a JIT disposition default is not allowed and is changed to none.

The JIT disposition enables the Requested Ship Date and Promise Date fields in Sales Order Entry. The requested ship date is the date the customer wants delivery. The promise date is the date you can ship the items. You can specify a requested ship date and promise date for the order or for each line in the order. Each line can have a different requested ship date and promise date.

The promise and requested ship dates default from the Customer Order Settings page in Sales Order Entry. Or, from the last dates specified in the Extended Fields section in the Advanced Line Entry, whichever was accessed last. If a line is accessed and updated, then its dates become the new defaults. These dates are used during picking to determine which lines are due and are printed on the pick ticket. Remaining lines are moved to a new release to be picked at a later date. Inventory on the lines to be picked is then committed, and a new release is created for the items.

Back orders can be created for JIT orders if the promise date for the line item is current, but the product is not available to fill the order.

You can run the SM Service Level Analysis Report to include orders with JIT order disposition. Select the disposition using the option, If Special, (J)IT, (S)hipComplete, (W)ill Call, (T)ag&Hold, or (A)ll. If you select Special or Both for the option, (R)eg, (S)pecial Dispositions, or (B)oth, you can use the first option to specify a special transaction type, such as JIT (Just in Time).
