PIN or Signature card transactions

If you have installed a card scanner device, you can scan a credit card during tendering. You can also scan a debit card and use personal identification number (PIN) entry or signature capture.

The credit card interface supports the devices to provide debit card PIN entry and, optionally, signature capture. This data is stored and controlled by the credit card processor. This functionality is primarily for card-present counter sales that use a dedicated device on a terminal with Sales Order Entry.

Note: Devices supported by your credit card processor are subject to change. Check with your credit card processor representative for more information.

During tendering, in the Collect Payment view, your customer can swipe their card in the scanner device. Your credit card processor communicates with the device to ask the customer to approve the amount of the sale, and collect the customer's PIN or signature. When the transaction is authorized, the payment is recorded in Sales Order Entry. Captured signatures are held by the credit card processor and are not available for receipts.

Device configurations

Some setup is required for the terminal and for the device. See the appropriate integration guide for information.

Workflow

After the setup is complete, you should modify your workflow so that for each sales order, a CSR always:

  • Signs into a CloudSuite Distribution session,
  • Selects the correct device, if a different device is associated, and
  • Signs out of the session when the order is complete and the card approval is received.
