Negative components

A negative component transaction occurs at the time a kit is built. To add a component that is only available as a component of another prebuilt kit or is a separate product, you can enter a negative component transaction. When you are adding a component that is part of another kit, the negative components is returned to inventory, allowing you to build the kit with the remaining component.

For example, suppose you have a kit product Pump A in your main warehouse consisting of the following:
Component Description
Hose 100
Pipe A/V
Seal A/M
Washer 5/8

You are currently stocked out of Washer 5/8 and are entering an order for Pump A. To avoid back ordering the prebuilt kit, you must remove Washer 5/8 from Pump B-1 and add it to Pump A. The remaining components of Pump B-1 can be added to the component list as negative components. The negative components are returned to inventory when you generate KP Work Order Center Entry and are handled much like a receipt transaction.

Negative components in a kit are shown in Product Inquiry-Components. They are designated with nines (such as 99999999.99) in the Short (-) column. The negative components are not included in the calculation of the Quantity Available to Build.
Note: Negative kit disassembly, negative parent values, and negative component values are not supported in the Kit Production, Value Add, or build-on-demand kit integrations to warehouse management integrations such as Total Warehouse Logistics (TWL), or Infor WMS.
