Scanning serial numbers

Scanning serial numbers with a hand-held scanner is supported if your cursor is positioned in the Serial # field in the Serials window.

Depending on the Distribution SX.e function that you use and the validity of the serial number, one of these workflows is implemented:

  • If the serial number is in the grid, the serial number is selected and counted towards the Quantity to Allocate. The Serial # field clears, and you can scan another serial number.
  • If serial number is not in the grid and you can add a serial number, the Add Serial Number window opens. The scanned serial number displays in the Serial # field. If the Serial # field is the only field in the window, the window automatically closes. If additional fields, such as Bin Location or Reason Unavailable, are available, click OK to close the window. After the window closes, you can scan another serial number.
  • If serial number is not in the grid and you cannot add a serial number, Serial # Not Found is displayed. You must delete the invalid serial number from the Serial # field before you can scan another serial number.
