Frozen products

A product is frozen when the ordering controls, such as the order point, line point, and order quantity, for the product are not recalculated during month end processing. Usage is recalculated when the Product Administration Month End Processing Report is run.

When a product is frozen, usage is recalculated when the Product Administration Month End Processing Report is processed, but the order point, line point, and order quantity are not. A product is frozen by the Product Administration Month End Processing Report when Yes is selected for the Merge History? and Freeze Products? options, and a frozen condition is encountered. This table shows the frozen conditions that cause ordering controls to be frozen for a product:

Frozen Condition Cause
Low Usage The usage balance is less than 1/2 unit. The frozen reason, Q, is displayed in the Product Exception Center Administration.
New Product For regular stocked products, the number of months of usage history is less than the value in the Months field in Product Warehouse Product Setup-Ordering. For seasonal products, less than 12 months of usage exists, and Forward or Trend is selected in the Method field in Product Warehouse Product Setup-Ordering. The frozen reason, N for New, is displayed in the Product Administration Exception Processing Center.
Stocked Out The total number of days that the product was stocked out in the month is greater than or equal to 15. The frozen reason, O, is displayed in the Product Administration Exception Processing Center.
Unusual Sale The usage for the month is greater than the last five months, is equal to or greater than the value in the Low Usage Threshold, Qty field in SA Administrator Options-Products-Replenishment, and the product cost times the usage for the current month is equal to or greater than the value in the Low Usage Threshold, Amount field in SA Administrator Options-Products-Replenishment. The frozen reason, U, is displayed in the Product Administration Exception Processing Center.
Zero Lead Time The lead time is zero. This usually happens with new products. The frozen reason, Z, is displayed in the Product Administration Exception Processing Center.

Adjustments to frozen products can be made directly in the Product Administration Exception Processing Center if you review frozen conditions in the Product Administration Month End Processing Report.

Products can also be unfrozen if they avoid all the frozen conditions and the number of months frozen was reduced from 1 to 0. These products print if you select Yes for the Print Products Unfrozen This Run? option.

You can also print products that were manually frozen in the past months. To review these products in the Product Administration Exception Processing Center, specify R for the Print Products Frozen In the Past: (R)ev, (P)rt, (N)o option. All products frozen before this Product Administration Month End Processing Report with activity in the last 30 days are added to the Product Administration Exception Processing Center. Activity is defined as last invoice date, last receipt date, or last purchase order or warehouse transfer issue date.
