Activating the CR Reconciliation Center

Only activate and use the CR Reconciliation Center functionality if your bank offers a program to download digital bank statements that you can import. Ensure your bank's statements can be downloaded to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file. The files must be formatted specifically to be imported into the CR Reconciliation Center. If your bank provides a CSV file, that file must converted to an Excel spreadsheet.

You must complete these high-level steps to activate the CR Reconciliation Center:

  1. Access to the CR Reconciliation Center is controlled from SA Operator Setup-Function Security. You must set function security of the CR Reconciliation Center functions to 5-Full Security for those operators tasked with check reconciliation tasks. Those functions are: CR Reconciliation Center Entry, CR Reconciliation Rule Setup, and CR Reconciliation Rule Matching Report.
Note: If you intend to run Rule Matching from within CR Reconciliation Center Entry, then function security is not required for CR Reconciliation Rule Matching Report.
  2. If you intend to use CR Reconciliation Center exclusively, you should deactivate reconciliation from CR Check Center Entry. In SA Operator Setup-Function Security, set the Sub Function Security to 2-Inquiry only and specify zero (0) in Transactions; no access to the Transaction tab.
  3. In SA Administration-Administrator Options-Financials-Check Reconciliation, select all options:
    • Interface to Check Reconciliation from Cash Receipts
    • Interface to Check Reconciliation from General Ledger
    • Interface to Check Reconciliation from Sales Order Entry
  4. You must plan, coordinate, setup, and test matching rules before going live and beginning to reconcile bank statements with CR Reconciliation Center.
  5. Before going live with CR Reconciliation Center, banks must be balanced with CR Entry Balance Bank Accounts Report to update all cleared transactions. Either finish the reconciliation with CR Check Center Entry or back out all cleared transactions in CR Check Center Entry.

CR Reconciliation Center vs. CR Check Center considerations

For best practice, we recommend you use either the CR Reconciliation Center or the CR Check Center, not both. Before you decide, consider these points:

  • Access to the CR Reconciliation Center functions does not deactivate CR Check Center Entry and the associated CR and CRE Reports.
  • You must plan and coordinate how you intend to use either or both the CR Reconciliation Center and the CR Check Center.
  • CR Check Center cannot import a bank statement.
  • You should not use both for the same bank within a month.
  • Alternatively, you could use CR Reconciliation Center for one bank, and CR Check Center for a different bank.
  • Alternatively, you could use CR Reconciliation Center for a bank with a larger volume of transactions, and CR Check Center for a bank with a smaller volume.
  • Use of both centers likely requires procedural changes to your current reconciliation workflow.
