Managing consigned inventory

You can set up a warehouse for each customer location that handles consigned inventory. These steps outlines the setup process:

  1. In Product Warehouse Description Setup, create a warehouse record for each customer location with consigned inventory. Consider these settings:
    • The Division can be assigned to a parent branch that manages this inventory. No additional GL accounts are needed.
    • Select Warehouse for the Authorized Replenishment Path type if you want all warehouse products created from this setup.
  2. In Customer Setup, specify the consigned customer number in the Customer # field. These functions are impacted by the customer record:
    • In Sales Order Entry, orders can only be entered for this warehouse and customer combination.
    • Product Availability Inquiry does not include inventory from consigned warehouses. Warehouses with an assigned customer number are considered consigned.
