Entering a sales order for a linear cut lot product

Use these instructions to enter a sales order line and allocate available lots to fulfill the specified cuts for a linear cut lot product in Sales Order Entry. You can also configure linear cut lengths as components for a build-on-demand kit with Infor CPQ Enterprise Configurator in Sales Order Entry.

See Entering a sales order for a linear cut BOD kit product.

Note: Orders created by an external process cannot be maintained to add a linear cut lot product.
  1. Select Sales > Entry > Order.
  2. Create or maintain an order.
  3. In Advanced Line Entry, specify a linear cut lot product.
  4. Specify the product length required by the customer in the Quantity field.
  5. Optionally, if you are allocating lots for the required cuts in Sales Order Entry, use these steps:
    1. Click Lots, and then specify the lot numbers and cuts that will be allocated to fill the order. Use one of these methods to select lot numbers:
      • Click Auto Assign, and then specify the Number of Pieces required and the Cut Length of product to be assigned.
      • Select the lot from the Lot Entry grid, and then specify the quantity. Optionally, select an existing cut piece from the Dimensional Cuts grid.
      • Click Oldest to assign the oldest lot number to the product. Split across lots? is displayed. For linear cut lot products, whether you click Yes or No, if the oldest lot does not contain enough product to cover the quantity needed, then the next oldest lot that can cover the entire quantity shipped is used. You must allocate one piece that is at least as long as the length required on the line. You cannot select two or more smaller pieces to add up to the length needed.
    2. Click Save when the Quantity to Allocate is 0.
Note: You can also assign lots and cuts to an order in Sales Linear Cut Maintenance Entry rather than Sales Order Entry to avoid reserving the entire lot quantity.
  6. Click Add to add the line to the order.
  7. Finish the order.
