Setting up optional replenishment parameters

To streamline the replenishment process, set up replenishment parameters at the company, warehouse, vendor, or product line level in Product Replenishment Setup. These parameters are used by the Product Administration Month End Processing Report when setting ordering controls, or when exception records are created, instead of freezing products when abnormal situations occur. These settings are also used in Purchase Entry Receipt of Inventory when determining safety and lead time review requirements, and by the Product Administration Inventory Classification and Rank Report when ranking products.

  1. Ensure all warehouse and product records are set up in Product Warehouse Descriptions Setup and Product Warehouse Product Setup.
  2. Review and set the parameters in Product Warehouse Product Setup-Ordering for all products. Some settings on the Ordering view are identical to settings in Product Replenishment Setup. You are not required to set these up first, but you should review them to determine what settings should apply at the product level versus company, warehouse, vendor, and product line.
  3. Create usage override reasons in SA Table Code Value Setup for 15-day stock out, exceptional, and low usage exceptions.
  4. Select Product > Setup > Replenishment.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Specify Company in the Record Type field. Click Create And Continue.
  7. In the Ranking view, specify these parameters:
    1. Specify Hits in the Perform Detail Ranking Functionality? field to activate these controls. If you select No or Ignore, the Product Warehouse Product Setup record is not updated with the rank. Information you specify on the Detail Rank Records window is stored, but not used. One exception: ordering control calculations that use detail ranking information when the Product Administration Month End Processing Report is run. The Product Administration Inventory Classification and Rank Report or the Product Administration ABC Inventory Evaluation Report do not perform ranking calculations, even if the options are selected on the report. This setting is set only at the company level.
    2. Click Detail Ranks to set up levels to rank your products. If the Perform Detail Ranking Functionality? option is Hits, you cannot exit the Detail Rank Record window until you define these ranks.
    3. On the Detail Rank Records window, click Create to add a rank. Specify the parameters for each rank level. Click Save. The total percentage of all ranks must equal 100 percent. Click OK to close the window.
    4. Click Continue or Save to save the information.
  8. In the Usage view, specify the parameters that apply to the company record. The Parent Whse Usage option is set at the company level only. Click Continue when you are finished.
  9. In the Rounding view, specify the parameters that apply to the company record. If you select Ignore for the Transfer Unit Rounding or Buying Unit Rounding settings, smart transfer rounding logic is not applied. Click Continue when you are finished.
  10. In the Priority view, specify the priority levels for the six priorities. Optionally, define the color settings for each priority. Click Continue when you are finished.
  11. In the Exceptions view, specify the parameters that apply to the company record. If you leave these fields blank, or set to zero, these parameters are not used by the Product Administration Month End Processing Report. Click Continue when you are finished.
  12. In the Adjusters view, specify Average Sales Quantity (ASQ) and Five-High Sales parameters. Leave these options blank, or zero, if you are not using these order point adjusters. Click Continue when done.
  13. In the Lead Time view, specify the parameters that apply to the company record. Click Continue when done.
  14. In the Customs view, specify settings for any custom fields your system administrator has set up. Click Continue or Save when you are finished.
  15. Close the maintenance window.
  16. On the main Product Replenishment Setup window, repeat steps 6-15 for warehouses, vendors, and product lines.
