Product Catalog Setup overview

Product > Setup > Catalog

Function acronym: ICSC

Use this function to set up and maintain catalog records.

You can use Product Catalog Setup to store product information for items you do not normally stock but can obtain from your vendors. These catalog products can be:

  • Used in Product Extended Product Cross Reference Setup
  • Entered during Sales Order Entry
  • Printed in PD Extended Catalog List Report
  • Used in PD Price Discounting Pricing Setup
  • Received through Purchase Entry Receipt of Inventory
  • Inquired through many of the inquiry centers

Use this function to create a mini record for each catalog product. This mini record can be utilized in many of the same ways as a standard product record. During Sales Order Entry, a catalog product may be considered a nonstock product or converted into a stocked product if the operator has the appropriate security. The information you specify in this setup is then carried over to the new product’s Product Setup record. Include as much information as possible when setting up this record.

When a catalog product is entered as a nonstock product in Sales Order Entry, the customer’s pricing record in PD Pricing Setup is used as a default. If the customer’s pricing record is a quantity break record, the price and discount in the first level position is used. If it is not a quantity break record, the levels based on the Customer Setup - Ordering record are used to determine the default price.

When catalog products are converted into stock products in Sales Order Entry, Product Setup and Product Warehouse Product Setup records are automatically created using information from Product Catalog Setup. The Product Catalog Setup record is not removed.

You can delete a catalog record only if associated Product Restrictions Setup or Product Certifications/Licenses Setup records are inactive. When you delete a catalog record, the main product restriction record and the attached customer-level records for that product are also deleted. When you delete a product record from either Product Setup and Product Catalog Setup but not both, the associated product restriction records for the product are not deleted.
