Customer Billing Setup overview

Customer > Setup > Billing

Function acronym: ARSB

Use this page to create charges that are directly added to the customer’s outbound freight charges.

Freight charges that you add to a customer order in Order Entry might not be enough to cover the additional expense of handling packages. You can define additional charges that are based on flat rate per order, flat rate per package, or on a percent of the total freight. After the charges are calculated, the charges are automatically added to the customer order. You can exclude a customer from being assessed additional charges on current orders and back orders.

Customer Billing Setup includes a handling charge if the shipping interface finds a match in Customer Billing Setup. If several charges apply to an invoice, the charge that is used is determined by this hierarchy:

  1. Ship To
  2. Customer
  3. Customer Type
  4. Ship Via
  5. Warehouse
  6. Carrier

If there is no match, no additional charges are assessed. Freight can be calculated and added to Addon 2.

After the shipping interface processes the package, the additional charges are added to Addon 2, Frt Out-bnd, of the customer order. You can view this information in Sales Order Entry-Taxes and Totals, Sales Shipping Feedback Entry-Detail-Header, or Sales Order Inquiry-Totals.

COD orders

If this record indicates that you do not charge the customer for freight and you are using a third-party shipping application to ship orders, the COD tag charge is included in the shipping charge if you select the Return COD chg in Ship Chg when not Charging Freight option in the shipping interface. If you do not select this option, the customer is not charged the additional COD tag charge.

If a Customer Billing Setup record indicates freight should not be charged to a customer and the order is a COD order, you can select Add $5 COD to Ship Chg when not Charging Freight to record the $5.00 COD charge that UPS adds to COD orders. UPS’s $5.00 COD charge is included in the shipping charge that the shipping interface sends to the system when the order is shipped.
