SA Printer Setup - Required field descriptions

Fields are presented in alphabetical order.

Description

An expanded version of the printer name. If you use a numbering scheme for printer names, the description should describe the actual printer name or location of the printer.

Device or Command

Reports are printed to view or email only. If you use an email-addressable printer, you can set it up as a CLOUDPRINT device. For example, specify CLOUDPRINT [email address of the printer], or CLOUDPRINT john.smith@hpeprint.com. You are prevented from specifying any other device type in the Device or Command field.

Group

Specify the name of the printer group to which you want to assign this printer. Printer groups are set up in SA Printer Group Setup. When you add a printer to a group, that printer is displayed in the Printer Name Lookup window for all users that are assigned to the printer group.

Assigning a printer to a group does not limit the use of the printer to any specific users or functions. All users can still use all printers set up in the system. If you leave this field blank, the printer is displayed in the Printer Name Lookup window for all users that do not have a printer group assigned to them and whenever the Blank Groups option on the Printer Name Lookup window is selected.

Swap Printer

Used when the operator specified the incorrect type of printer. If an operator specifies the incorrect type, and this field has a value, the swap printer automatically loads. If this field is blank and you specify the incorrect printer type, an error message is displayed.

Type

Specify the type of device.

Width

The width of the printer. You can enter 80 or 132 column printers. The system automatically condenses a report to fit a smaller width printer as long as the correct code strings are specified on the Settings view. For example, if you are printing a wide report requiring 132 columns on an 80 column printer, the system condenses the report to fit on the 80 column printer. Do not change the width specified here unless you change printers. Do not try to adjust this value to get print compression.
