Setting operator function security

Only grant access to functions that operators require to perform their jobs. If you grant access to functions that operators do not use, you compromise the validity of your data.

  1. Select System Administrator > Setup > Operator.
  2. Specify operator criteria, and then click Search.
  3. Select the records, and then click Edit.
  4. Click Function Security.
  5. Specify web in the Menu Set field.
  6. In the Name field, specify the module, category, or function for which you want to set security. This table shows examples of the values you can specify in the Name field:
    Functions that are displayed Value to specify in Name field Example of Name value
    All functions for a module, such as Vendor or Sales Module + * AP*or OE*
    All functions for a module category, such asVendor > Setup or Sales > Report Module + Category + * APS* or OER*
    A specific function, such as Vendor Setup or Sales Exceptions Report Function acronym APSV or OERE
  7. Click Search.
  8. Select the functions that require the same level of security.
  9. Click Set Function Security.
  10. Select the security level, and then click OK.

    In this step, you set security for the entire function, including sub functions. If a function has sub functions, such as the multiple views on an inquiry, you can change the security for each sub functions. See the next step.

  11. To set sub function security, select the sub functions in the Queued To Set section, and then click Change Function Security.
  12. Select the security level, and then click OK.
  13. Click Save to save the function security changes.
