Profile

A profile identifies a user's job function and determines what the user sees on the user interface (UI). Profiles are set up in SA Table Code Value Setup and assigned to users in SA Operator Setup. The UI for each profile is set up using the Personalization feature.

Assigning a profile to a user does not grant the user access to the functions that are associated with the profile. You must update the user's security settings on the user's operator record to grant the appropriate level of security for the functions.

For example, Mary works as a order entry operator but is transferring to the warehouse. She is assigned the OE profile and has the security settings that are required for order entry functions. When you change her profile to warehouse, you must change her security settings for the functions that are required for warehouse personnel. Without the appropriate security settings, she cannot access the functions for the warehouse profile the next time she signs in.

You can enable a user to save any user-specific settings that are made when signed into Distribution SX.e under a profile. Select Yes for Allow User Specific Settings in SA Operator Setup. Changes are saved when the user exits the application. For example, if a user signs in under a profile and changes display options in Sales Order Entry, the changes are saved and available the next time the user signs in under that profile.
