Do Not Reorder products

A product’s status in Product Warehouse Product Setup determines if ordering controls are recalculated during month end processing and if the sales history is merged. Do not reorder (DNR) product’s ordering controls are not recalculated during month end processing, but history is merged.

After a warehouse product is designated as Do Not Reorder, the product can be sold through Sales Order Entry but it is not automatically reordered.

If a warehouse product is no longer active, you can manually change the status to Do Not Reorder or allow the Product Administration Inventory Classification and Rank Report to automatically maintain it after it becomes a class 13 product. When you change the status of a product manually in Product Warehouse Product Setup, you can clear the ordering controls. This immediately shows any quantity on hand for the product as surplus. Ordering controls can also be reviewed and cleared for DNR products by running the Product Needs Analysis Report.

A warehouse product’s status can be designated as Do Not Reorder temporarily or permanently. For example, nonstock products that were ordered for a customer, who later decided not to accept them, could be set up as Do Not Reorder products. You can track these quantities, and if the product is requested by a customer, you have a better chance of selling the product.
