Authorization Security overview

You can use authorization points to limit the access an operator has to specific modules, menu options, and procedures over and above security set up in SA Operator Setup. Use authorization points judiciously because they can slow or stop workflow.

  • SA Authorization Security Administration: Use this function to specify authorizations for operators.
  • SA Grant Authorization Administration: Supervisors use this function to grant or deny authorization to an operator to perform a task.
  • SA Authorization Point Setup: Use this function to inquiry about specific authorization points in the system.

Pre-define an operator's access in SA Authorization Security Administration. For example, an operator may have the authority to maintain information in a particular function, but that operator may be limited to certain divisions or departments. Then, when an operator encounters one of these authorization points, the system checks the user’s level of authorization to verify that the operator is authorized to continue. If the operator is not authorized to perform the task, the operator gets a notification and must cancel out of the task or contact a supervisor to request the granting of authority to proceed.
