Promise date

The Promise Date on the Customer Order Settings page in Sales Order Entry plays an important role in how Just In Time, or JIT, orders are handled. This date determines when a pick ticket for the JIT order is printed. When the order’s promise date equals the system’s current date, a pick ticket can be printed automatically. Or, when it falls within a specified range, it is included with a batch. Initially, the Promise Date for an order with a disposition of JIT is available. After you enter a line item, the Promise Date field cannot be changed.

The Promise Date and Requested Ship Date default from the order header. These dates are displayed on the Customer Order Settings page. They are also displayed for each line in the Extended Fields section in Advanced Line Entry. If these dates are changed when the line is entered, the new dates default to any subsequent lines entered on the order. The line dates can be refreshed to the order header dates. Return to Customer Order Settings from a blank line, then enter a new subsequent line. The Extended Fields section is updated to display the order header dates.

When no lines exist on an order, a change to the Requested Ship Date results in a similar change to the Promise Date. This table shows the results of changing the Promise and Requested Ship dates on a JIT order:
