Setting up a global phone number format

Phone numbers in the United States have a consistent structure and use special characters to separate the phone number into area code, prefix-number, and extension sections. For example, XXX-XXX-XXXX. Phone numbers used in other countries do not have a formal structure or use special characters. In SA Administrator Options, you can specify a phone number format. The phone number format affects all functions, lookups, and reports that contain phone numbers.

  1. Select System Administrator > Administration > Administrator Options > System > Options.
  2. Specify up to 18 valid characters to indicate the format in the Phone # Format field.

    Valid characters include X, -, /, [, ], (, ), and a blank space. Specify xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for an 18-character, format-free phone number.

  3. Click Save.
