Promotional pricing

Promotions offer selected items for sale at a special price or discount for a limited time. You can define special pricing records in PD Pricing Setup that automatically assign the promotional price to products on sales orders during the promotional period. To view a list of products that are currently on promotion, select Line Entry > Shopping List in Sales Order Entry-Select Products, and then click Promotional Products.

The pricing hierarchy identifies the order in which the pricing records are searched during Sales Order Entry. The hierarchy begins with promotional pricing records for price types 7 and 8.

The promotional price is assigned to the line item during validation. Depending on these operator and administrator option settings, the promotional price can be overridden:

• Access Promo Price in OE in SA Operator Setup

  If Yes is selected, then a Promotional Pricing window opens after you specify a product with promotional pricing in Sales Order Entry. You can accept the promotional pricing or decline it to use the non-promotional, or regular, price.

• Promo Price Default setting in SA Administrator Options-Documents-Sales Orders-Entry Settings

  If one of these conditions are met, then pricing is determined by the Promo Price Default setting:

  • No is selected for the Access Promo Price in OE setting in SA Operator Setup.
  • Yes is selected for the Access Promo Price in OE setting, but the Promotional Pricing window is not displayed in the function that you are viewing the price. An example is Sales Customer Pricing Inquiry.

  The Promo Price Default setting also determines which price is applied to sales orders that are created and updated using the sxapiOEFullOrderMntV6 call. The Promo Price Default setting is overridden when the Override to the OEAO Promotional Price Default business rule is set up in SA Business Rule Setup. Similar to the Promo Price Default setting, you can use the business rule to apply the promotional, regular, or lowest price. If the business rule and the Promo Price Default setting are not set up, then the lowest price is used by default.

  If Allow Entry is selected, you can change the promotional price for a line item. You can change the price in the Price field, or you can calculate a different price in the Pricing view.
