Consumable items supported on rental contracts

In Service Management, you can now include consumable items on rental contracts. You can use this feature to sell products that are related to rented items. Lines for consumable items and rental items are included on the same sales order in Distribution SX.e. Previously, you were required to create a separate service order for consumable items.

To integrate this new feature with Distribution SX.e, you must set up consumable items as stock warehouse products in rental warehouses and alternate warehouses. Because you cannot sell products directly from a rental warehouse in Distribution SX.e, the consumable product lines are sourced from the alternate warehouses. Warehouse transfers are created when the sales order is invoiced in Distribution SX.e.

The UnitofRate element in the Invoice Line User Area of the Invoice BOD was updated to support consumable items in Distribution SX.e. When the UnitofRate is 'C', the product in the ItemID/ID element is identified as a consumable product. When a BOD with a consumable product is received in Distribution SX.e, the line item is processed as a stock order sale from the rental warehouse and invoiced.

Lines for both rental products and consumable products are displayed in Sales Order Inquiry.
