Tracking and allocation of linear cuts in TWL now available

Data about linear cuts to lot products is now shared between CloudSuite Distribution and Total Warehouse Logistics (TWL). Lot cut pieces are now handled in TWL when receiving, picking, shipping, or adjusting the product, and the linear cut records are updated in CloudSuite Distribution.

This enhancement expands the linear cut lot products function in CloudSuite Distribution to not only track and allocate linear cuts to lot products on orders, but also provide accurate inventory levels for each product in the warehouse.

With this enhancement, these CloudSuite Distribution reports are updated to accept data from TWL to create and update lot cut records in Product Extended Lot Number Setup:

  • WL Entry Batch Receiving Report
  • WL Entry Batch Shipping Report
  • WL Entry Batch Adjust Inventory Report
  • WL Balance Inventory Report
  • WL Inventory Audit Report

Lot receiving

In TWL, when the linear cut lot product is received, you can now specify the number and length of cut pieces making up the received quantity. After the receipt transaction (RT) is closed, you can run the WL Entry Batch Receiving Report to update the product's available quantity and linear cut records in CloudSuite Distribution. The lot cut piece records are based on the unit associated with the receipt.

Lot picking and shipping

In TWL, users are now directed to the best lot for picking linear cut pieces. Updated allocation logic examines the total available amount in the lot, the number of pieces, and the lengths of those pieces. When an order is dropped from TWL Order Drop Manager, a Pick record detailing the lot allocation is created. After entering a Location on the Pick record, the person picking the product now has visibility of the available lengths in each linear cut lot in the Select Products screen. This information is useful to verify that the allocated lot contains a piece with the necessary length.

After a cut piece is picked and shipped, you can run the WL Entry Batch Shipping Report to update the order and the product's linear cut records in CloudSuite Distribution. The WL Entry Batch Shipping Report deletes any lot processing that may exist for the line and creates new records based upon the lots selected during the picking process.

Lot stock adjustments

Stock adjustments to the total quantity of a lot product in the warehouse are performed in TWL because it is the system of record. After entering a Location in Stock Adjustment, the person making the adjustment now has visibility of the available lengths in each linear cut lot in the Select Products screen. This information is useful to verify that the allocated lot contains a piece with the necessary length for the adjustment. Running the WL Entry Batch Adjust Inventory Report updates the available quantity for the product in CloudSuite Distribution to keep the records in balance. Now, when the WL Entry Batch Adjust Inventory Report updates the lot records related to the adjustment, the linear cut records are adjusted simultaneously.

Inventory auditing and balancing

Use the WL Audit Inventory Report to create adjustments to synchronize quantities between TWL and CloudSuite Distribution. When there are multiple cut pieces available for a lot, the adjustment is applied to the first piece with the necessary length for the adjustment.

The WL Balance Inventory Report lot balancing functionality is enhanced to include lot cut pieces. Now the user has a detailed view of what is and what should be associated with the lot. The new Lot Cut Piece Detail report section displays when the product is set up as an OE Linear Cut product in Product Setup.

Feature activation

Use Product Setup and Product Warehouse Product Setup to define a product as a linear cut lot product or a build-on-demand kit that can be used to fabricate a requested product. The kit is made up of components, which include linear cut lot products of a specific length. To use this enhancement, the lot product must be set up in a TWL warehouse.
