Troubleshooting
This chapter provides troubleshooting information for issues you may encounter when performing various tasks in IPF.
For farm job troubleshooting, you can check for messages on the Farm Jobs tab in the Farm Manager and then see the farm administration guide for more information.
IPF installation: failure to create database
When you use the IPF Installer to create the IPF Control database in SQL Server, you could see a message in the log similar to this: "Directory lookup for the file 'D:\Data\IPFControl.mdf' failed with the operating system error 2 (The system cannot find the file specified.)."
Make sure the appropriate data and log folders exist on the MSSQL database server, based on the server's default locations. For example, you may need to add D:\Data\ and D:\Logs\. Check the error message for the correct location for these folders. (Database default locations are specified in SQL Server on the Server Properties form.)
If the SQL Server database directories have been changed from the default location, make sure directory permissions allow for file creation.
Error when launching the Farm Manager or Portal Manager
Infor uses a third-party partner to validate digital certificates in order to launch the Portal Manager and Farm Manager applications. If you encounter an error message stating that certificate verification has failed for the IPF.LauncherServer.exe, you may need to open HTTP traffic on the machine where the Farm Manager or Portal Manager needs to be launched from, or at least open HTTP traffic to the required certificate validation website. Contact your Infor Support Consultant for more information.
Portal configuration
These errors could occur during portal configuration:
- Error processing an IDO request... (Status:TrustFailure The remote
certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.): This message is displayed
during portal configuration if you attempt to connect to the configuration server using a
URL that starts with https, but a valid digital certificate is not installed and bound to
the portal web application.
In a test environment, you may use an SSL certificate that is self-signed or that is signed using the internal or private key. You can temporarily configure the system to ignore the lack of a valid certificate and trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel by selecting the Ignore Invalid Security Certificate check box during data source configuration.
- Pre-login account errors: During configuration of the pre-login account,
if you receive an error saying that the pre-login account does not exist or cannot
authenticate, even though it is configured correctly in the back office, it may be that
SSL is not successfully authenticating its certificates.
To verify this issue, open the Farm Manager and select Ignore Invalid Security Certificate option. Apply this setting and then try configuring the pre-login account again. If it now succeeds, there is a problem with the SSL certificates.

Problems after an upgrade
If you experience issues after updating content or IPF versions, you can downgrade to your last installed version or reinstall the current version.
The procedure for downgrading or reinstalling a content version is similar to upgrading. You can use the IPF Installer or the Farm Manager. Import a past version to downgrade or the current version to reinstall content. Launch the Portal Manager and activate the content.
